Slip-stitch lace is a modern approach to lace knitting that combines the elegance of openwork with the structural possibilities of slipped stitches. By strategically elongating stitches before decreases and incorporating textured sections between lace motifs, this technique creates fabrics with exceptional depth, movement, and visual interest.

Prerequisite: Know how to work some simple lace and slip-stitch patterns.

Swatch #1:
Using Long Tail Cast on, CO 12 sts.
Row 1 (WS): Sl1, purl to last st, k1.
Row 2: Sl1, knit to end.
Row 3: As Row 1.
Leave stitches on needle. We will continue in class.

Swatch #2:
Using Long Tail Cast on, CO 17 sts.
Row 1 (WS): Sl1, purl to last st, k1.
Row 2: Sl1, knit to end.
Row 3: As Row 1.
Leave stitches on needle or a stitch holder.

Swatch #3:
Using Long Tail Cast on, CO 18 sts.
Set -up Row 1 (WS): Sl1, purl to last st, k1.
Set -up Row 2: Sl1, knit to end.
Set -up Row 3: As Row 1.
Leave stitches on needle or a stitch holder.

Sport- or fingering-weight light and solid-colored yarn. Needles: US 3-4, stitch markers, pencil and paper for notes.
