Class Details:

In this class, we will use the double knitting technique in the round to knit a double round neckline that fits well and adds a pop of color and sophistication to your sweaters. We will start from a sample neckline, learn how to pick up stitches for a good finishing, learn the double knitting technique in the round, and learn how to use the Italian bind-off to make sure the neckline fits well—never too tight, never too loose.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, have knit a whole garment, basic finishing techniques

Homework:

Cast on 40 stitches.
Work 4 rows in stockinette, starting with a knit row.
Row 5: K11, Bind off 18 sts, K11 (you will now work both sides separately)
Row 6: P10, Sl1WYF, turn.
Row 7: K2, KFB, K8, turn.
Row 8: P11, Sl1WYF, turn.
Row 9: K2, KFB, K9, turn.
Row 10: P12, Sl1WYF, turn.
Row 11: K2, KFB, K10, turn.
Row 12: P13, Sl1WYF, turn. Cut the yarn and hold your stitches in your needle.

Work the other side that is holding on the needle:
Row 6: Sl1WYF, P10, turn.
Row 7: K8, KFB, K2, turn.
Row 8: Sl1WYF, P11, turn.
Row 9: K9, KFB, K2, turn.
Row 10: Sl1WYF, P12, turn.
Row 11: K10, KFB, K2, turn.
Row 12: Sl1WYF, P13, turn.
Row 13: K13, CO 14 sts, K13.
Work 2 rows in stockinette. Bind off.

Abbreviations and special techniques
K - Knit
P - Purl
Sl1WYF - Slip 1 stitch with yarn in front
KFB - Knit into the front and back of the next st (increase)
Sts: Stitches

Supplies to Bring:

2 oz/ 60g of scrap yarn - preferably in DK or worsted. 1 circular needle matching the yarn and 16”/40 cm long. 1 tapestry needle.
