Explore “mairlisle” knitting in this in-depth class that reimagines traditional Fair Isle through layered, contemporary colorwork techniques. Participants will investigate how multiple strands interact to create depth, structure, and optical effects within knitted fabric. Through guided swatching, you will develop skills in yarn management, tension control, and pattern construction while building confidence in combining color and texture. This class encourages creative exploration of modern knitted surfaces and expands the possibilities of stranded colorwork design.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, working in the round, chart reading, easy colorwork

• DK yarn in two contrast colors (one can be a variegated yarn!)
• US 6 or 7 circular needles, DPNs or the needles you prefer to knit small circumferences in the round
• Stitch markers
