Roosimine is an Estonian inlay technique that creates the appearance of embroidery with intentional floats in contrasting yarn on the right side of your knitting. It’s the perfect technique to add some embellishment to your knitting that is easier than intarsia. Knitters will learn the basics making a Roosimine swatch.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, working in the round, chart reading, easy colorwork, basic finishing techniques

Using US 6 / 4mm  needles with MC (main color), cast on 42 sts (or more stitches of an even number to fit needles comfortably, but no more than 68 sts). Join in the round and place marker for beginning of round.
Rnds 1–2: work 1x1 rib as follows: [k1, p1], repeat [-] to end.
Rnds 3–4: k to end.

• US6 / 4mm needles for knitting comfortably on small circumference with minimum of 42 stitches in DK weight yarn; either double-pointed needles, 32” / 80cm circular needle for magic loop method, flexi needles or small circumference needle such as 9" / 23 cm circular needle.
• Stitch markers
• 3 colors of DK-weight yarn(preferably non-superwash - think grippy yarn you would use for colourwork or fair isle knitting) in contrasting colors, approx. 20g of each color. Make sure yarn is easy to pull from both ends of the ball for working with two strands at a time.
