Class Details:

The stretchy, elastic cast-on is always in big demand. It is a must for knitted top-down socks, and for wherever a stretchy edge is required. There are a few existing stretchy cast-ons, and the most widely used is German or Old Norwegian CO. Others include Alternating Long Tail CO, Tubular or Italian CO, Slip Knot CO, and more.

I have developed my own stretchy yarn over cast-on (YOCO), based on traditional long tail cast-on. It is easy to work and quick to remember, and no new complicated techniques are required. The result is that the bottom cast-on edge is solid, even, beautiful and very stretchy. Another important quality is that it's elastic, and it retains its shape after stretching. It looks good with any stitch pattern—stockinette, garter, ribbings including brioche, and many more.

In this class you will learn:
• the secret behind the new cast-on, and why it is so stretchy;
• how to work YOCO using different methods, as well as a further modification: VECO.

A useful handout with text and video tutorials will be provided.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl sts, yarn overs, long tail cast-on
