New York Recap
Thank you for another fantastic Vogue Knitting LIVE New York! We might have been in our hometown, but this “escape” into a weekend of yarn felt as if we were in another world! We definitely did not want to leave when Monday’s afternoon sessions ended. The three days of classes, plus the two days of Marketplace shopping, went by in a flash!
The highlight was our first-ever charity auction, which we put on to support The Heart Truth, a national awareness campaign for women about heart disease sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), part of the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). We raised tens of thousands of dollars on behalf of Stitch Red, our industry’s participation in the program! A set of Elizabeth Zimmermann’s own dpns sold for over $1000. There were amazing kits, memorabilia, and more being bidded on as we sipped cocktails and looked out on the city from our sky-high perch. It was a magical evening!
We were also treated to a phenomenal Gala Dinner sponsored by Woolmark, where Alice Starmore regaled us with stories of her life in the isles of Scotland. With Woolmark in mind, we did a special wool-themed Vogue Knitting fashion show.
The Marketplace was packed during the two days of shopping at the more than 70 vendors. And the classes! Full of eager, amazing students—so say all our teachers—in classes every day.
We couldn’t be happier with our return to New York. Come to Chicago this October, where we’ll do it all again in the Windy City, October 26–28 at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel.
